Patricia King has practiced Health Law for over thirty years. She began her career as an in-house attorney at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, and then practiced for three years with the firm of Wood Lucksinger & Epstein before returning to Northwestern. From 1995 through 2001, she was the General Counsel for Rockford Health System in Rockford, Illinois. Beginning in 2003, she was an in-house attorney at Swedish Covenant Hospital in Chicago, serving as General Counsel from 2015 through 2020.


Ms. King has represented health care clients in a broad range of transactional, regulatory and compliance matters. Her transactional work has included work on information technology license agreements, managed care, joint ventures, physician employment, health care financing and educational affiliations.  


She is especially interested in health information technology and has written extensively and given numerous presentations on HIT topics, including electronic health records, health information exchange and HIPAA privacy and security.
