Benjamin Caughlin, MD, FACS
Malecki Brooks Ford Law Group, LLC, is proud to continue our new communication highlighting the backgrounds and accomplishments of our clients.
Name: Benjamin Caughlin, MD, FACS
Known for: Double Board-Certified Facial Plastic Surgeon. Expert in facial sculpting, buccal fat pad, contouring and jawline definition.
Positions: Cosmetic Private Practice, Many Faces of Chicago. Facial trauma and scar management for the Department of Head and Neck Surgery at John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County. Clinical Instructor, University of Illinois, Department of Head and Neck Surgery. Consulting Surgeon, Jessie Brown VA Medical Center.
Background: Wanted to be an architect. Worked summers as a roofer in dad’s roofing business. Drawn to methodical, hands-on work, completing a project, and feeling enormous satisfaction. These skills translate well into his plastic surgery practice.
His focus: “I’m a fan of sub-specialization. If you want a new roof, you can hire a company that does it all — roofing, plumbing, electrical — but you may not get the result you would if you hired a company that only does roofs.
I’ve developed a certain expertise. As a result, I’m only working on jawlines now. My practice is 60% surgical and 40% non-surgical.”
His passion: “One thing I do a great job with is communication. The patients tell me what their goals are and then I do my best to give them my honest opinion about how to reach those goals. Sometimes it could be surgical, sometimes non-surgical.”
More passion: He has recently started a scar management program with the Department of Dermatology at Cook County to help treat patients with post-traumatic scars and scars from reconstructive cancer surgeries. He is one of the pioneers in transgender care where he has performed the facial portions of the gender-confirming surgery for our veterans.
Colleague: “Ben is fun, funny, outgoing, and brilliant. He is creative and innovative. He is a fun and loyal friend whom I’ve known for years. I know for sure he is an excellent surgeon and that he cares deeply about treating his patients as he would a family member. He’s the person you should trust to give you advice about or to cut on your face.”
Roar: “I have a strong national and international patient list. Forty percent of my patients fly into my office—most recently from the UK and Dubai. I’m also proud of my patient reviews. I look forward to going to work. I enjoy what I do and patients see that. My practice motto is: “Results Shape the Enjoyment.”
